Hello everyone!

Just wanted to keep you all up to date on the recent developments of The New Curtain Theatre Company. As you know our annual fundrasier is approaching. But before you run out to purchase your tickets we want to let you know that we are shaking things up a bit this year. Something that can be enjoyed out doors as well as in. This year is all about new beginnings and new paths to forge. And we are laying the seeds for alot of very exciting ideas.

We are looking at more of a concentration on community this year and the first of these items will be the start of our youth and adult acting classes. Stay tuned for exact dates and times. Also we are exploring a series of smaller events at The Loft Theatre.

So stay tuned into this site and we'll be filling you in with in the following month.

SHAKESPEARE ON THE SLOPES - THE 2nd ANNUAL EVENT.

"COME ON UP - TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL"

SPONSORED IN PART BY Government of Newfoundland & Labrador (Department of Tourism,Culture and Recreation), THE BENEFIC GROUP, PRATT HENLEY BLACKWOOD and TOWN OF CLARENVILLE.

This year we will be introduced to a whole new group of the Bard's friends. From star-crossed lovers to dueling spouses. Let yourself experience the splendour of the WHITE HILLS SKI RESORT and the crisp winter air of the most sought-after winter locale in eastern Newfoundland.

This year we will see the greatest love story ever told - ROMEO & JULIET - open the 2nd annual Bard Festival with Amelia Manuel and Brad Hodder in the lead roles.

Shakespeare’s famous tale of star-crossed lovers is unquestionably the world’s best-known love story. Against a backdrop of family hatred and violence, Romeo and Juliet meet, fall in love and secretly marry. When Romeo is suddenly drawn into the conflict, the lovers’ future plans are thwarted and Fortune becomes the arbitrator of their destinies. Aiden Flynn interprets a unique staging that juxtaposes new love with historical conflict in the middle of the Wild Wild West on the prairie in the middle of who knows where.

On the alternate nights from R&J Danielle Irvine's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW takes centre stage and features Geoff Adams and Didi Gillard-Rowlings in the title roles. Shrew is one of Shakespeare’s most delightfully boisterous romantic comedies. Petruchio, who is determined “to wive it wealthily in Padua,” cleverly obtains the hand of feisty Kate who has previously refused to marry. He then sets out to tame his new bride. While Kate and Petruchio engage in a lively battle of wits, a trio of suitors employs disguises and ingenious strategies as they vie for Kate’s beautiful sister, Bianca. Irvine also places this merry battle of the sexes in the unruly Wild West, adopting the style of the spaghetti western and sure to please one and all.

So "Come one. Come all. And see the greatest show on earth" .
